North Brabant has no fewer than 46 Van Gogh Monuments. These are sites which, because of their value to the life and work of Vincent van Gogh, are considered to be extraordinarily valuable heritage sites. Van Gogh Sites Foundation is committed to preserving these monuments for future generations.
Van Gogh Monuments
The 46 Van Gogh Monuments are spread throughout the province. This shows again how connected Vincent van Gogh's life was to Brabant. At vangoghbrabant.com you will find images and visiting information about the monuments.
On the initiative of Van Gogh Brabant, a group of experts, led by Het Noordbrabants Museum and with the support of the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, worked on the development of criteria for Van Gogh Monuments. On this basis, an inventory of the most valuable Van Gogh heritage in Brabant has been made and 46 monuments have now been selected.
In late 2017, nine municipalities, three heritage organizations, the Province of North Brabant and the Van Gogh Brabant Foundation signed the Van Gogh Monuments Covenant. By doing so they pronounce themselves guardians of the Van Gogh Monuments and contribute to the preservation of the valuable heritage.
