Cooperative Van Goghorganisations in Brabant

Oisterwijk, Oct. 26, 2021

Three Brabant organizations have signed an agreement to cooperate in communicating the legacy of Van Gogh in Brabant. The signatories want to strengthen the economic, cultural, social and nature and landscape qualities of Brabant with Vincent van Gogh as guide and inspiration.

Van Gogh as guide and inspiration

The initiators declare that bearing the artist's name is not optional. It requires respect for his legacy and daring when it comes to making choices in the way of working. With Van Gogh as their guide and inspiration, work is based on shared values, and the organizations intend to establish a cooperative within a year that other parties in Brabant can join. In this way they want to safeguard and sustainably propagate their shared values and a careful way of working with and communicating the legacy of Van Gogh.

Great iconic value for Brabant

Bert van der Els (chairman Van Gogh Sites Foundation) is pleased with this initiative; "It is a seemingly small step, but with a major knock-on effect in anchoring the iconic value of Vincent van Gogh for a wide range of social developments in Brabant."

Care and quality

The co-signatories Erik de Ridder (replacing Yvo Kortmann) and Jan Post, both on behalf of Van Gogh National Park, and Fons Jurgens on behalf of Van Gogh Homeland Experience, have expressed their intention to bring in expertise for the next step in the near future. All partners endorse the great importance of carefully safeguarding the quality of the use of the Van Gogh name in Brabant. It is anticipated that a cooperative will manage a common brand and coordinate its monitoring for the cooperating Brabant organizations.
